When did you start working at Hannes Snellman?

I joined Hannes Snellman in May 2016 and started to work in the firm’s Private M&A team. Between March 2017 and August 2018 I was on a leave of absence from Hannes Snellman, service as a law clerk at the District Court of Södertörn, Stockholm. I recently returned to Hannes Snellman and wanted to further develop my dispute resolution skills from the law clerk training programme and therefore joined the firm’s Dispute Resolution team.

What is included in a “normal” working day?

Every working day looks a bit different from the other. However, I do a lot of legal research, e.g. when examining a specific legal issue or interpreting an agreement. Another part of the work is to compile, discuss and draft different legal arguments and to meet clients. Aside from the legal part of the day, a normal working day also includes further training as well as events to market Hannes Snellman, e.g. student activities and fairs.

Can you describe your working group?

As mentioned, I am part of the firm’s Dispute Resolution team in Stockholm, consisting of around 15 people with different functions and experiences. Further, we work cross-border with our Helsinki team on a regular basis. We usually work in different smaller project teams which vary depending on the project. However, it is a good way to work with different people.

What do you like about your job?

I like that I, through my job, get to know and work with different legal areas but also different industries depending on what case I am working on. At the beginning of a new case a lot of my time is spent on research, however, when understanding the issue I like that I get to discuss and argue different aspects with colleagues and draft submissions or other legal documents. I also enjoy that the job is based on teamwork, which in my experience often leads to a much better result.

Can you describe the Hannes Snellman culture?

I would describe the Hannes Snellman culture as open-minded, professional and friendly. In my experience, it is easy to approach people of different seniorities with ideas for improvements both on an individual and firm basis. People at Hannes are very ambitious and are professionals in their respective areas, however, the atmosphere is still supportive and friendly and we enjoy spending time together.
