When did you start working at Hannes Snellman?

I joined Hannes Snellman in May 2019 after having worked a couple of years in the insurance sector.

Can you describe your day-to-day work?

Naturally, managing our clients’ ongoing disputes is at the top of each day’s agenda. Usually, this means digesting large amounts of information, filtering out the relevant bits and pieces, and then puzzling those pieces together so that a clear strategy and an arguable case based on the merits of each case and any relevant circumstances is created. Besides that, an average day contains a mixture of meetings, legal review, discussions between colleagues on various matters, and substantial amounts of coffee.

What kind of matters are you working on at the moment?

Currently, I am involved in a series of commercial insurance matters and construction-related disputes. Most of these disputes revolve around liability-related issues, either contract or tort based. In addition to the disputes, I am also assisting our Competition and Public Procurement team with filing notification with various competition authorities globally in the wake of a recent acquisition.

What do you like most about your job?

Without a shadow of doubt: the variation. Every day brings along new interesting questions to dive into. As our clients are active in a wide array of business sectors, it is crucial that we not only understand the business of our client, but also the business of our client’s counterparty in order to provide sound advice and an efficient management in an ongoing dispute. As a result, you end up learning a lot about a variety of businesses and industry sectors.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I spend as much time as possible with my family and friends. We often go sailing, skiing, or enjoying other activities together. Reading a good book or watching a good movie is also always appreciated.
